Earlier today, I inaugurated the governing board of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC).
GIFEC, one of the agencies of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation, has been designated by law, the Electronic Communications Act 2008, Act 775, as the Universal Service Fund for Electronic Communications of Ghana.
GIFEC is mandated to: provide financial resources for the establishment of universal service and access for all communities.
Also facilitate the provision of basic telephony, internet service, multimedia service, broadband, and broadcasting services ‘to these communities.
This is an onerous task and the Board of Trustees have therefore been carefully selected.
I am encouraged by the diverse backgrounds and experience of the team and have no doubt that together, we will deliver and achieve the goals of GIFEC, the Government, and Mother Ghana.
