I inaugurated the governing boards of the National Communications Authority (NCA), Data Protection COMMISSION (DPC), and the Postal and Courier Service Regulatory Commission(PCSRC).
I urged the NCA board to ensure that:
1. Spectrum and other resources are managed judiciously
2. Challenges of Service Providers and all stakeholders in the industry are improved and become issues of the past
3. An enabling environment is created to foster the use of technology and communications systems during this unprecedented era of Covid-19
4. The playing field is levelled and competition boosted within the industry in line with the various regulatory measures which are being developed and implemented as part of the SMP measures
5. The rollout and the implementation of the SIM Registration Exercise is well managed
6. There is a collaboration with the National Media Commission to collaborate and identify the requisite modalities to streamline the Radio and TV industry and sanitise the airwaves
7. Consumer focused interventions are developed
8. Staff are motivated to work for the benefit of the industry
9. Expectations of all in the sector are met, and
10. Facilitate Government’s Digital Agenda through efficient and effective regulations.
I pray for success as their gains will reflect positively on the work of my ministry and indeed, reflect on the output of the Government.
